Generally avoid mushrooms with gills, and opt for those with spongey or toothy undersides. Do not eat those that stain blue or have red spongey undersides.

My favorite guidebook is this one (please use a guidebook that is suitable for your area! Many Asian immigrants have died accidentally eating death caps here bc poisonous lookalikes differ around world 😞)

Great question! For me it’s fun and fulfilling to have an alternative to industrialized food systems, and to interact with nature in an intimate way. 

It feels good to know that nature provides directly if we know where to look, without middle men.

No power ups for these kinds besides for the taste buds 😌

im curious, why do people search for mushrooms? do they give you power ups or is it just fun to find and collect?

Ahhhh puff balls maitaki morels galore chicken of the woods chanterelles and oysters 

I’m amazed by the size of the puff balls! That’s one species I haven’t tried (we only see small ones with green mold already inside 😅) what does it taste like? How do you cook them?
