My grandfather cried when he watched me play Assassin’s Creed for the first time in 2007. He said he’d never imagined computers would be able to make something so beautiful and I never forgot that. Everyone here is building the future with magic rocks and I think that’s so fucking cool.

Can relate to that, games became crazy. I had such a moment when I played AC: Origins. Game was so beautiful at times and once I just stopped, thought: "This is truly amazing" and shed a 'lil tear.

I get that feeling every time I log into Star Citizen. Seeing an entire planet from orbit, and realizing I can actually fly to anything I see, it’s magical.

I got that feeling playing Odyssey. I’d pause for a while and just… contemplate the gorgeous scenery. It’s incredible that video games had to fight this hard to reach acceptability after being blamed for so many sins. We’re literally a species of untrammelled world-building gods who made rocks think

Look, not to diminish your experience, but your grandfather may have been crying due to your lack of skillz and just came up with an amazing alt story in real time. But fr, love this sentiment.

That’s awesome! 👀 I still remember the first time I played Nintendo 64. 3D Mario felt very significant. We had entered a new dimension then, but the hardware still had to catch-up before the environments and characters could become life-like.

got goosebumps while reading this. imagine when he grew up. how was life in his hometown? what did he have to do in order to get the most basic stuff that we now take for granted? thanks for the invitation to be grateful.

AC1 and AC2 was the best games in AC trilogy IMO. Looking forward to this years release as they are taking it back to its roots.

The cityscapes is the number one thing I like about AC games. But I find the gameplay so repetitive and tedious that I’ve never finished one

I asked him what would it take to build games like this today. I’ll never forget his answer. “We can’t, we don’t know how to do it.”
